Understanding the Oceans using Autonomous Observations

The Ren Lab at ASU BIOS uses underwater gliders, a type of autonomous underwater vehicle, to observe the local waters around Bermuda and oceans around the world.

Our lab is interested in understanding ocean dynamics using autonomous observations and measuring new properties of the oceans autonomously.  Dr. Ren is a physical oceanographer with interests in biogeochemistry, with particular expertise on dissolved oxygen. Recent and current science projects include understanding changes in the Gulf Stream, biogeochemical sensing in the oceans, and marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) verification.
