Monitoring the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) at BIOS
As the COVID-19 crisis progresses, BIOS is following U.S. and Bermuda Government guidelines about social distancing, remote work and operations, international travel, and ship and dock restrictions to protect employees, visitors, and the Bermudian community.
Applications for summer courses, internships, and the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) and fall semester programs remain open. However these activities may be cancelled at short notice, in response to government requirements or ongoing travel restrictions.
The BIOS Ocean Academy continues to accept applications for Ocean Science Camp (applications due May 15), Marine Science Internship (applications due May 15) and the Bermuda Program (applications due April 30). From educational field trips and team-building activities to intensive research internships for aspiring young scientists, these programs continue to provide unique opportunities for marine science research and the development of technical skills. Please visit the programs' respective websites for further information.
Still looking for ways to assist with online learning at home? Our educators have compiled a list of ocean-themed resources, from curriculum components to webinars and games, to help keep students of various ages active outside the traditional classroom. These resources are updated weekly and can be accessed at https://bit.ly/BIOSresources
For Bermuda's guidelines about COVID-19, including information about symptoms and preventing illness, please visit Government of Bermuda Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information.
Thank you for your interest in science and science education and your support of BIOS, especially in these trying times. We look forward to continuing to provide world-class ocean science education and research opportunities for Bermudians and the global community.
