Ocean Science Camp

Ocean Science Camp is geared towards students aged 12-15 that are interested in the ocean, but may not have had previous opportunities to study marine science. This camp offers an introduction to the marine life of Bermuda and provides a scientific foundation to kick-start student curiosity in the sciences. Students learn about Bermuda’s ecosystems, food webs, productivity of the ocean, the plants and animals on local reefs, current events in marine biology and much more.

Our mission is to provide a unique experiential education opportunity for campers who are interested in learning about the marine environment. Through this one-week program students participate in snorkel training, boating, and research-based field trips. Students work as a team during group activities and projects that are centered on BIOS’s scientific research. The camp is snorkel based but includes a PADI Discover Scuba (DSD) experience in which students practice taking their first breaths underwater.*

* PADI dive certification is not a component of week-long activities.
