Dom is a research technician at BIOS where he works primarily on the Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study (BATS), Hydrostation ‘S’ and Ocean Acidification (OA) programs. He graduated from the University of Southampton (England) in 2017 with an MSci in physical oceanography, having also studied abroad for a year at the University of Miami in Florida (U.S.). Following a formative experience on a research cruise with the Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic Program (OSNAP), he focused on pursuing a path as an active, hands-on, sea-going oceanographer. This led him to accept a position as an oceanographic technician in Newfoundland where he worked for a year before joining BIOS in 2019. His responsibilities at BIOS include regular cruise participation aboard the R/V Atlantic Explorer, as well as smaller inshore research vessels; data analysis, processing and archival; software development; and chemical analyses.
