Alex is a marine scientist dedicated to translating ocean science into lifelong learning opportunities. Through her research experiences at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation in Greece, and the Tropical Research and Conservation Center in Malaysia, she gained an appreciation of extensive research techniques. She feels scientific research needs to be more accessible to a wider audience.
After her own tall ship voyage with Sea Education Association, she worked as a resident counsellor for their summer high school programs and loved working with students to inspire their passion for the ocean. She is thrilled to join the BIOS Ocean Academy team to connect high school and college students with hands-on opportunities in Bermuda.
Prior to joining BIOS, Alex worked in the Marine Biology and Ecology Research Centre at the University of Plymouth. She received a Bachelors in Environmental Studies from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts in 2019 and a Masters in Marine Biology and Public Policy from the Université Côte d’Azur in Nice, France in 2022.
