Hossein Masigol, PhD, is an aquatic microbial ecologist and postdoctoral researcher at the ASU Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences. His research focuses on the ecology, taxonomy, and functional roles of aquatic fungi and oomycetes in freshwater ecosystems and their contributions to global carbon cycling.
Previously, he held a postdoctoral position at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Germany, where he studied aquatic fungi in lakes. He has now shifted his focus toward planktonic fungi in the ocean environment.
