Events and Outreach
RPI’s cross-disciplinary seminars and workshops provide members direct access to the experts and their research results prior to publication. We host bespoke in-house meetings for the benefit of industry, as well as supporting speakers for conference attendance. Recent examples of events we have worked on include:
- Tropical Cyclone Intercomparison Project Workshop – September 2017 Columbia University, New York
- 6th International Summit on Hurricanes and Climate Change – June 2017, Heraklion, Crete
- Research Update Workshop – October 2016, Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences
- Seminar on European Windstorms – June 2016, XL Catlin, London
- We also support the local understanding of natural hazard risk in the Bermuda community through our Bermuda Risk project.
- Examples of our efforts here include:
- Mentorship of local students in risk-related subjects
- Liaison with Bermuda’s emergency management community
- Compilation of reports on local catastrophe risk
- Participation in community conversations as technical advisors on climate change and disaster risk reduction in Bermuda
