John Farrington is Scientist Emeritus at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution after a research and education career at the Institution of thirty-five years culminating in fifteen years as Dean and Vice President for Academic Programs 1990-2005. His professional interests are: the biogeochemistry of organic chemicals in the marine environment, education for all ages, and science-policy issues. His interactions with BIOS (then BBSR) began in 1969 as a graduate student with a short visit to BIOS prior to a research cruise. Periodically since then he has conducted research interactively with BIOS scientists and presented several lectures and seminars at BIOS. Dr. Farrington is a member of the Nominating, Science, and Education Committees.
