Dr. Morgan R. Olsen became the Executive Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Arizona State University in November 2008. He came to ASU from Purdue University, where he served as Executive Vice President and Treasurer. Before he joined Purdue, Dr. Olsen served as the business and financial vice president at three other higher education institutions, Southern Methodist University, Eastern Illinois University and Emporia State University (Kansas). His responsibilities at the University include treasury and financial functions, internal audit, capital projects, real estate, facility operations, information technology, business services, human resources, environmental health and safety, ASU Police and auxiliary services. He also serves on the boards of the ASU Foundation and ASU Enterprise Partners and holds an appointment as Professor of Practice in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. He has over three decades of experience in higher education, and holds several leadership positions. He is the chair of the board of directors for the United Educators insurance company, and is a past chair of the board of directors for the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). He is also a past president of the Central Association of College and University Business Officers (CACUBO). Dr. Olsen earned a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, and a master's degree in public administration from the University of North Dakota, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and holds a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Kansas. He served as acting executive budget analyst for the North Dakota Office of Management and Budget before entering university administration in 1985.
