Grant Farmer

Grant graduated from the College of Charleston in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and Physics. During his time as an undergraduate, he gained valuable firsthand experience with meteorological field observations and researching the climatology of tropical cyclones and tidal flooding in the Carolinas. Grant then returned to school at the University of South Carolina and completed his Master of Science in Geography in 2022. His time in graduate school primarily consisted of work on field campaigns highlighting heat stress on vulnerable populations and Urban Heat Island effects. His graduate research duties also involved maintaining UofSC’s on-campus weather station and the quality of its associated meteorological data.

Grant joined ASU BIOS in July 2023 as a technician for the Environmental Quality Program, where he works to maintain multiple field stations recording critical meteorological and environmental data on the main island of Bermuda. His primary duty involves the successful sampling of chemical and physical atmospheric properties at the Tudor Hill Marine Atmospheric Observatory on the SW tip of the island. He also works closely with researchers at home and abroad to collect marine air quality data concerning greenhouse gases, pollutants, and other airborne industrial chemicals.
